Skincare

Just past your skin also goes through changes every season. This means different products which cater to the seasonal needs of the cells. However, more often than not, we make certain errors in our skincare routine.

This leads to overdrying and even acne due to dehydration of the skin. So, we are bringing you a skincare guide to all the mistakes which you are not supposed to make this holiday season.

This winter, keep your skin glowing and thriving with the right skin care.

Winter The Dry Season

No matter where you reside, other than the equator of the tropics, there are chances you will have a cold winter. But cold is beautiful, probably because they take it away from you. So, this winter, ensure you are avoiding the following mistakes which are ruining your dry skin care routine.

1. Not Moisturizing Enough

Moisturizing is the epitome of skincare when it comes to the winter season. But, no matter the skin care, you have to replenish your skin from time to time with good nourishment. So have a lot of water even though you do not feel thirsty in winter.

Use a good moisturizer for the day and a heavy one for the nighttime since your face will dry as the temperature drops. You should always wake with moisturized and dewy skin because crusty skin means a lot of damage has already been done.

2. Think You Can Skip On Sunscreen

There are parts of the world where the sun doesn’t shine at all and parts where the sunshine is moderate to the bright summer days. However, there is no chance of you skipping on sunscreen when the sun doesn’t seem that powerful.

Let us tell you; it can still wreck your bare skin. Especially when it is dry and your skin is losing the moisture which is protecting the skin.

3. Washing Your Face With Hot Water

Never wash your face with hot water, no matter how cold it is or tempted you are. If you find your skin getting extra dry and the moisturizer unable to lock any moisture in, it is probably because of the hot water.

They are known for messing up with the outermost skin cell, and this prevents the skin from locking in any moisture.

4. Not Exfoliating

Yes, exfoliating can dry your skin, but giving up on exfoliating is not the right way to look into this matter. It is the winter season, which means crusty skin and too many dead skin cells which need clearing.

Switch to a gel-based exfoliator, and scrub your face once a week. Do not wait to put on a toner afterward; this will prevent your skin from drying. After which, you can moisturize your skin.

5. Skin Is Not Just Face

Often when we talk about skincare, you stick to your face. However, your hands and legs also get crusty and dry in this season. They also need regular moisturization and exfoliation. Switch to a good oil for the nighttime rather than your regular body moisturizer for the nighttime. A good oil massage can also induce good sleep and keep you warm throughout the night.

6. Not Changing Cleansers

Cleansers should be different based on the season. For example, you can use a gel moisturizer in the summer. However, when it comes to the winter season, there is not much oil on your skin. So, switch to oil-based or even scream-based cleanser for better nourishment.

7. Using Too Much Product

You might see others using ten-step skincare and have wonderful skin, often on youtube but remember filters and editing do play a big part. Plus, letting your skin under so many products can prevent them from breathing.

Stick to the basics that your skin needs, and you will not deal with acne due to clogged pores.

Get Your Skin Season Ready!

Skin prep is a big part of getting your skin winter ready. Start with getting your yearly dermatologist’s check, and then buy the right products. Then you should be all prepped for the winter season.

Do not forget to carry moisturizer and hand creams.

Drinking water is an essential part of this routine.
